Ivor
An 0-6-0, narrow gauge, steam outline loco. Powered by a single cylinder, Kohler (USA make) engine. Arrived at Arbroath in December 1992 from a short line in Yorkshire.
Purchased primarily for maintenance trains, it is very regularly pulling passengers when traffic is light. e.g. mornings and showery days (the cab gives the driver some protection). It began life as a diesel shunter - built by Coleby-Simkins in 1972 and operated at Newby Hall, Yorkshire for a while. It was converted to its present form by Terry Stanhope of Leeds.
The Kohler petrol engine has been replaced with a Yanmar diesel and this makes Ivor much more useful as the new engine is more powerful and efficient than the old one.
